A first match has been made official for AEW WrestleDream 2024, as the show is set to air on Saturday, October 12th from the Tacoma Dome in the city of Tacoma, Washington. The announcement has been made last night on the special episode of AEW Dynamite – Grand Slam 2024.

Bryan Danielson declares war on Jon Moxley

Indeed, we know that Jon Moxley will be challenging Bryan Danielson for the AEW World championship at WrestleDream, thanks to his victory over Darby Allin last night in New York City.

“The American Dragon” successfully defended his title by defeating Nigel McGuinness in the opening contest of Dynamite Grand Slam, making everybody know that he is cleared to compete and ready to put his championship on the line like the fighting champion he wants to be.

At the end of the show, Bryan Danielson attacked Jon Moxley from behind as a sign of vengeance after what happened a few weeks ago at AEW All Out. The World champion then declared war on Jon Moxley and said that he would face him at WrestleDream to “kick his f****** head in”. The message is sent, and the match is official for the 12th of October in Tacoma, Washington.

It’s the first contest announced for the next AEW pay-per-view and the second edition of WrestleDream. The first one took place on October 1st, 2023 in Seattle, Washington, where Adam Copeland made his AEW debut by confronting the TNT champion at that time, Christian Cage, at the end of the show.

Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson have already faced each other in AEW two times in the past, at Revolution 2022 and at Dynamite Grand Slam 2022. Mox won both of these matches. So, the current AEW World champion will have to change his strategy if he wants to take the better of his opponent and retain his title to maintain his full-time career alive at WrestleDream.
