This Sunday, NJPW will present The New Beginning in Osaka 2024, live from the Osaka Prefectural Gym. The event will be the last appearance of Will Ospreay in NJPW before he moves full time to AEW. We’ll also get the chance to witness one last match between Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. will battle in an anticipated AEW WrestleDream rematch.
Ospreay and Okada’s farewell
A few months ago, we learned that Will Ospreay had signed a deal with AEW, starting from February 2024. Well, the time has come. The British wrestler will have his last match for NJPW this Sunday at The New Beginning in Osaka, as he will team up with his partners from United Empire to face the BULLET CLUB War Dogs in a 10-man Steel Cage tag team match which promises to be explosive. He will have a chance to get his hands on David Finlay, who took the opportunity to become the inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight champion from him at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18.
Plus, Kazuchika Okada will have one final match against Hiroshi Tanahashi before he leaves NJPW. The Rainmaker has indeed not signed any new deal with the Japanese promotion, and we don’t know yet what his future in professional wrestling is made of. His contract ended on January 31 and was not renewed.
Anticipated rematch between Danielson and Sabre Jr.
The event will also feature a match between Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. in a rematch from AEW WrestleDream. Back in October 2023, the American Dragon took the better of his opponent in a great technical bout. Will the issue be the same this Sunday in Osaka?

The IWGP World Heavyweight champion, Tetsuya Naito, and his next challenger and former champion, SANADA, will be implicated in a 5 on 5 tag team contest.
Only one championship match is scheduled on the card, as El Phantasmo & Hikuleo will defend the IWGP Tag Team championships against KENTA & Chase Owens.
