Sami Zayn booked his spot for a championship match at WrestleMania XL.
WWELast night on Monday Night Raw, Sami Zayn was involved in a main event 6-man Gauntlet match to get a chance to face Gunther for the Intercontinental championship at WrestleMania XL. Bronson Reed, Chad Gable, JD McDonagh, Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura were the other participants, as Sami Zayn found a way to eliminate three of them to get the job done and win his ticket for the “Grandest Stage Of Them All”.
Indeed, Sami Zayn defeated Chad Gable via pinfall with a cradle pin in the final to get the opporunity to become Intercontinental champion once again. Here are the full results of the 6-man Gauntlet match:
- JD McDonagh was eliminated by Ricochet via pinfall with the Shooting Star Press.
- Ricochet was eliminated by Bronson Reed via pinfall with the Tsunami.
- Bronson Reed was eliminated by Sami Zayn via pinfall with a Sunset Powerbomb.
- Shinsuke Nakamura was eliminated by Sami Zayn via pinfall with the Helluvah Kick.
- Chad Gable was eliminated by Sami Zayn via pinfall with a cradle pin.

Sami Zayn has already been WWE Intercontinental champion three times in his career. Now he looks to do what nobody has been able to do so far, that being to defeat the Ring General Gunther for the title. The leader of Imperium has been champion for more than 640 days and intends to keep on making history by retaining the belt as long as he can.
Sami Zayn will now be in a championship match for the second year in a row at WrestleMania, as he won the WWE Undisputed Tag Team championships with Kevin Owens last year at WrestleMania 39, by defeating The Usos in the main event of the Night 1 of the show.
