An Elimination Chamber match to determine Seth Rollins’ WrestleMania opponent

The episode of WWE SmackDown kicks-off with Paul “Triple H” Levesque coming in the ring with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis. The WWE Chief Content Officer confirms that the main event of WrestleMania XL will see Roman Reigns defend the Undisputed WWE Universal championship against Cody Rhodes. And if some people don’t like it, well… “It doesn’t matter” he says.

Nick Aldis then announces that there will be an Men’s Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber to determine who will challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania. There will be six qualifying matches to win a place in the match, with twelve Superstars involved: AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley, Bronson Reed, Dominik Mysterio, Drew McIntyre, Ivar, Kevin Owens, LA Knight, Logan Paul, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and The Miz. The qualifying matches will start tonight on Friday Night SmackDown.

Drew McIntyre comes for his match and keeps on mocking CM Punk about his injury and the fact that he will miss WrestleMania XL.

  • Match #1: Drew McIntyre defeated AJ Styles via pinfall with the Claymore Kick to qualify for Elimination Chamber. LA Knight was on commentary and caused a distraction for AJ Styles.
  • Backstage segment: Sami Zayn says it will be difficult to defeat Randy Orton to qualify for Elimination Chamber, but he thinks he will do it. He faces The Viper later in the night.

  • Promo in the ring: Bayley talks about the end of Damage CTRL. She says that she belived in it, that she wanted to believe in it. But with what happened the last few months, the mockery, she will get revenge at WrestleMania XL. Dakota Kai joins her in the ring. She seems conflicted, and doesn’t know which side she’s on. IYO SKY, Asuka & Kairi Sane come to attack Bayley and Dakota Kai saves the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble winner. Bayley and Dakota Kai look at each other to end the segment.
  • Backstage segment: Randy Orton wants to go to WrestleMania because he missed last year’s edition because of an injury. He will have to beat Sami Zayn tonight, and intends to do it with the three most dangerous letters in all of sports entertainment: RKO.
