A look back at the multiple title changes from WWE SummerSlam 2024.
Four championships have changed hands last night at WWE SummerSlam 2024, as each Raw and SmackDown have two new faces as champions.
Gunther is the new World Heavyweight champion
Monday Night Raw has a new World Heavyweight champion in “The Ring General” Gunther, who has defeated Damian Priest at SummerSlam to capture the championship. The Austrian Superstar had won the King of the Ring tournament back in May to secure a spot for a World title match on the biggest party of the summer. Last night in Cleveland, he submitted “El Campeon” thanks to the betrayal and distraction caused by Finn Bálor, who turned on his Judgment Day partner during the match. As Gunther won the first World title in his WWE career, Damian Priest lost not only his championship but also a friend. With this victory, Gunther may come at Bash In Berlin in his home country as World champion, as the next PLE event airs on Saturday, August 31st.
Nia Jax: from Queen to champion
Same thing for Nia Jax, who was the Queen of the Ring and became WWE Women’s champion by defeating Bayley last night at SummerSlam. Ms. Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton interfered during the championship match and caused a distraction to help Nia Jax to take out her opponent, which she did by winning via pinfall after inflicting a third Annihilator to Bayley.
First main roster titles for LA Knight and Bron Breakker
Plus, LA Knight captured the United States championship by defeating Logan Paul and Bron Breakker became the new Intercontinental champion by defeating Sami Zayn. They both won their first championship on the main roster.

WWE SummerSlam has also been marked by the return of Roman Reigns who appeared during the Undisputed WWE championship match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. The former World champion helped “The American Nightmare” to retain his title by hitting Solo Sikoa with a Superman Punch and a Spear, as Solo wants to take the spot of the Tribal Chief since the loss of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL.
