CM Punk injured, Rollins wants Cody at WrestleMania & more WWE news following the January 29 episode of Raw.
WWEWWE presented Monday Night Raw this Monday, January 29, 2024, live from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The results of the show are available here.
CM Punk will miss WrestleMania and could be out of action for 4 to 6 months
That’s the bad news of the week. CM Punk suffered a torn triceps this Saturday during the Royal Rumble, and he confirmed last night on Raw that he will miss WrestleMania 40. The Royal Rumble was his first WWE televised match in a decade, and sadly it didn’t go his way. We know that WWE had a Seth Rollins vs CM Punk match in the plans for this year’s WrestleMania; now they are going to have to find another idea for the opponent of the Visionary at the “Grandest Stage Of Them All”. CM Punk could miss 4 to 6 months of action, and hopes to get another chance to perform at WrestleMania next year.
Seth Rollins wants Cody Rhodes to face him at WrestleMania
Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble this Saturday, and he pointed at Roman Reigns immediately after winning the match. No doubt he is going to choose the Tribal Chief for a rematch from last year’s WrestleMania main event… Or can there actually be a doubt? Seth Rollins interrupted Cody’s promo last night on Raw, claiming that choosing Roman Reigns would be a mistake, because nobody cares about him anymore. For Rollins, the World Heavyweight championship is now the symbol of prestige, hard work and dedication. The segment ended with Cody Rhodes replying he would think about it.
Andrade is the new Monday Night Raw roster member
Andrade made his WWE return this week-end at the Royal Rumble, entering the match at n°4. Last night, we learned that he would be part of the Monday Night roster, as he signed a contract with Adam Pearce backstage. Nick Aldis was present, and picked up a phone call from Bron Breakker to end the segment; could the former NXT champion be the next signing of Friday Night SmackDown?

Gunther, the unstoppable Intercontinental champion
Gunther successfully defended the Intercontinental championship against Kofi Kingston this Monday on Raw. He will soon surpass the 600-day mark as champion, and has defended his title 20 times since he won it in June 2022. The question being now: who will stop the Ring General? Will he defend the prestigious championship at WrestleMania, or will he try to be the next challenger for the World Heavyweight championship? Time will tell.
Bayley has (not) made her choice (yet) for WrestleMania
Bayley came to Raw last night, after her victory at the Royal Rumble. She didn’t reveal who she will face at WrestleMania 40, because she was interrupted by Rhea Ripley and then by Nia Jax. According to the PWInsider, Bayley is set to face her Damage CTRL’s partner IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s championship at the show. Just a confirmation, we actually already saw that coming.
Plus, Pat McAfee is the new WWE Raw commentator along side with Michael Cole.
