Rollins vs Punk plans confirmed, Mercedes Mone’s future & more.
Seth Rollins vs CM Punk in a championship bout at WrestleMania 40 is the confirmed planned match by WWE, Mercedes Mone’s next destination is still undetermined, Roman Reigns’ plans for WrestleMania 40 and more flash news.
Seth Rollins vs CM Punk at WrestleMania is the A plan for WWE
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed that Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 40 against CM Punk was the first plan for WWE since the shocking return of the Best In The World at Survivor Series last November. However, Dave Meltzer has no more information or details concerning Seth Rollins’ recent injury. We don’t know yet if this will have consequences that could impact the original plans.
The first step for CM Punk at this point is the Royal Rumble: will he get his championship opportunity by winning the all thing or will he manage to find another way to reach the World Heavyweight title and Seth Rollins?
Seth Rollins not advertised for the upcoming episodes of WWE Raw
The Visionary has been pulled out from the upcoming editions of Monday Night Raw by WWE; he’s next advertised for the February 12 episode of the red brand. Let’s hope the injury he sustained during his title defense against Jinder Mahal this Monday on Raw is nothing serious. Seth deserves that big WrestleMania spot this year.
AEW, WWE: Mercedes Mone’s future destination is still unknown
Mercedes Mone is a free agent and could sign in AEW in the coming weeks, but some people working in WWE still believe there’s a chance for the former Women’s champion to chose to return where she was called Sasha Banks. The Wrestling Observer stated: “With all the AEW rumors (and there’s expectation in AEW that she’ll be in after finishing up some acting commitments this month), nothing is for certain & some in WWE believe there’s still a shot for her in the Royal Rumble”. So, could Mercedes Mone be a major surprise entrance at the Royal Rumble?
She appears as one of the biggest free agents right now, along with Kazuchika Okada who will not extend his contract with NJPW after January 2024.

Roman Reigns to defend his title in a triple threat match at WrestleMania?
Roman Reigns has to defend his WWE Universal championship at the Royal Rumble in a Fatal-4-way match against Randy Orton, AJ Styles and LA Knight. According to the Wrestling Observer, the plans for his WrestleMania 40 match is still not decided, but there are three possibilities discussed: Cody Rhodes, The Rock, or both of them in a Triple Threat match. Roman Reigns has already defended the Universal championship in a 3-way match at WrestleMania, back in 2021, against Edge and Daniel Bryan (Adam Copeland and Bryan Danielson). Maybe he will do it again this year.
